Ecclesiastes says "For every thing there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what has been planted." To that I would add "a time to say hello and a time to say good-by." That time has now come for Tom and I to say good-by to our wonderful church home at Killbuck and for you to say hello to your new pastor Ken Smailes.
Good byes are never easy, but they come with the territory of being a Methodist. This one is a little different, however as I am not moving on to another church, but instead going on disability leave and moving back closer to our family. For the next couple of months we will still be living at the parsonage and Ken has graciously given his permission for us to continue to worship at Killbuck UMC. It has been over twelve years since I have had the privilege of sitting next to my husband in church and holding his hand during times of prayer. I must confess I am looking forward to that! There may be a few Sundays that we will not be there because of my health or we may be visiting our pastor friends at their churches, but we are looking forward to being a part of worship and hearing Pastor Ken preach!
Tom and I feel most blessed having shared the last five years with all of you, it has been an honor to have been your pastor and I am excited for your future- I know God has big plans for this little church and for each and every one of you. We have accomplished much in our five years together and I know that you will continue to be a light to the community. Take as good of care of Ken as you did us and he will be one happy pastor. When we have our new address and phone number it will be published and know there always be a light in our window, a room in our home, a meal on the table and a prayer in our hearts for each and every one of you- now and forever more.
You are loved! Pastor Roberta & Tom
